Curiosity Replaced My Black And White

1. What first brought you through the doors? What were you looking for at that point in your life?
I was looking to go into the community development space, and when I came across Bold at Work on social media, I was intrigued by their working space - Being located right within the community and sharing a space with both a cafe and a co–working space - it was a unique and perfect representation of what it does as an organization in the community development area.

2. What actually happened when you were here? Share one specific moment, conversation, or experience that stayed with you.
A highlight for me was being given the opportunity to organize a sharing session for youths-in-transition. Getting to design the experience from scratch, from the publicity poster to the whole experience was challenging yet empowering. This experience was made more memorable due to the uncertainty of the COVID-19 situation - With the evolving safe distancing measures, we had to make the difficult decision to switch the session from an in-person human library session to a virtual Instagram live session. This experience was a highlight for me as it nurtured and deepened my interest in facilitating and moderating conversations.

3. What did you take with you after leaving?
Through my time at Bold, the interactions I had and things I picked up has allowed me to adopt a more exploratory approach to life and career pathways rather than a largely deterministic form of outlook.

4. Where are you now, and how is that connected (if at all)?
My time at Bold in helping to curate and manage taster programs has helped lay the foundation in doing partnerships work, which enabled me to ease into my subsequent Partnerships and Outreach role in the public sector.

5. If the space did not exist, what would have been different?
My outlook towards life in general would probably have been more linear and 'black and white'. My stint at Bold@319 has allowed me to approach things in a gentler and curious way. 🙂
