A Space to Practice Being Me

An Interview with Dorothy, Who Grew Comfortably Into Herself

An exhibit at hte Love Pazzar

1. What first brought you through the doors? What were you looking for at that point in your life?
I was attending an NYC workshop and got to meet Yoek, then Jerry started internship and I got more involved with BOLD space and work. That was probably 2018 omg.  That time I guess I was looking for more unconventional ideas to work on, a space to express myself and develop skills.

2. What actually happened when you were here? Share one specific moment, conversation, or experience that stayed with you.
Alot of things happened (HAHAHA)! One of my most memorable experiences was organizing Love Pazaar together around a topic that felt deeply personal and meaningful to us. What shifted during my time here was my identity and my service to people. I feel like BOLD really witnessed me grow up, for 9 years omg.

3. What did you take with you after leaving?
BOLD really reminds me of the power of community. And it will always be etched in me that there are communities to lean in and serve at the same time

4. Where are you now, and how is that connected (if at all)?
Now, I spend much of my time doing Pilates and healing work. During my first DYL, one question I kept asking myself was: “What are the tools I can use to create greater impact in the world?”

Nine years later, I feel like I’ve slowly found some of those tools, and I’m still learning and practising them today through supporting others in their healing and personal transformation journeys.

Side note: It is a touching moment looking back at me in the projector room at 319, wondering what my future would look like. Somehow, years later, the pieces are finally coming together. Bold really witnessed me growing up.

5. If the space did not exist, what would have been different?
If the space didn't exist, I wouldn't have a space to practice courage being me. I wouldn't have all these amazing connections too. BOLD@319 gave me the space to become more connected to self and like-minded people around me.
