Coming Full Circle
An interview with Nysha an ex-intern who is designing her life on her own terms.
1. What first brought you through the doors? What were you looking for at that point in your life?
An Internship opportunity brought me to the doors of Bold at Work. At that point of time in 2021, I was looking into the tangible impacts of design thinking.
2. What happened when you were here? Share one specific moment, conversation, or experience that stayed with you.
One of the things I recall most was when I got to help out in mapping and documenting conversations between leaders in different community organisations. Their stories of building trust and experiences of when it was tested highlighted to me how much unseen labour and time is taken to build networks people can rely on. While I did know community work and impact does not happen overnight, I did not know nor feel the weight of showing up continuously until their sharing
3. What did you take with you after leaving?
I left with new found friendship from my time working with Hafizah! We still meet whenever we can and support each others' creative ventures. I approach life knowing there can be nuances to the way I set my goals.
4. Where are you now, and how is that connected (if at all)?
Currently at a transition period between jobs and preparing to move out of Singapore. In the meantime, I'm building a little intergenerational craft club - could say it's quite a full circle moment as it also intersects community networks. (tested during parking day haha)
5. If the space did not exist, what would have been different?
Without BOLD@319, I think I would be struggling to see if my ideas, especially those that require people, work
